Tick Control in Fort Worth, TX
When it comes to creatures that are small but dangerous, few rival the potential of a lowly tick. Despite often being no bigger than just one-eighth of an inch in length, these small, parasitic pests have been known to carry some of the worst diseases our planet has ever seen, including Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Mediterranean spotted fever, and Lyme disease. Thankfully, tick bites are less lethal to humans today thanks to advancements in medical care and treatment. However, the same cannot be said for our four-legged furry friends. Ticks are one of the most prolific disease vectors for dogs, cats, horses, and cattle, and can cause some serious canine health issues even here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
When it comes to protecting your property from ticks, turn to the team at Western Exterminating. We know how to address tick infestations and treat areas where they are frequently found in order to protect you and your pets. We target tick havens, treating them with mitigation products that not only eliminate existing pests but also discourage them from returning anytime soon. With years of experience and an unwavering focus on integrity, discipline, and loyalty, we firmly believe we can become your pest control contractor of choice.
If ticks have taken up residence in your yard or become a major nuisance for your furry friends, reach out to Western Exterminating by calling (817) 391-4576 today.
Ticks Commonly Found in Fort Worth, TX
The most commonly found tick in the DFW Metroplex is the brown dog tick, also known as the “kennel tick” or “pantropical dog tick.” These are what are known as hard ticks, meaning they are usually active in daylight hours and often live in brushy overgrowth or weedy areas that provide them with cover and shelter. They also have a distinctive “hard” plate on their back. Other tick species commonly found in the area are the lone star tick (which sadly isn’t named for our great state), the American dog tick, and the black-legged tick.
Diseases Ticks Can Carry
As we covered previously, the reason ticks need to be dealt with swiftly is because of their proclivity for spreading disease. Ticks are famous carriers for Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Lyme disease, typhus, and plenty of other illnesses for both animals and humans alike. Just a single bite from the wrong tick could transmit this type of serious illness, and that’s why it’s important to take tick protection extremely seriously for everyone.
They feed on decaying matter rather than blood. They rarely bite humans. They are often found around sources of moisture such as sinks, tubs, toilets, and showers. They will invade the home by the thousands.

Once your tick problem is eliminated, it’s a good idea to proactively work to prevent further tick infestations by eliminating enticements that ticks are constantly looking for: food, water, and shelter. Here are a few tips for doing so:
